Not our FightReader comment on item: Support the Syrian Rebels? Submitted by Kepha Hor (United States), Jun 19, 2013 at 19:12 We should not help either side, and Obama's decision to aid the Syrian rebels is a grave mistake. Whatever secular democrats may have been involved in the initial protests, the bulk of the Syrian rebel force is now apparently made up of Qaida and Ikhwan sympathizers, the very same groups who brought us the events of 09/11/01 and who reminded the Obama administration that they were still alive and active on 09/11/12. The Free Syrian Army has wiped out the Christian village of al-Douwair near the Lebanon border, and has sheikhs and imams who tell it they have a sacred duty to rape non-Sunni women. Are these the sort of people we want to see in power? If there are refugees following a victory by Soviet backed Ba'athists, the US should be sympathetic to Christian refugees, but let Turkey take the Muslim ones. After all, in Ottoman times, the Turks received Muslim refugees from Maghrebis who didn't want to be ruled by the French to Central Asians fleeing the Russians. In the 1920's, they received how many Hellenophone Muslims from Greece; and later took in Uyghur, Khazakh, and Kyrgyz refugees from East Turkistan. One would think that the Obama administration had learned a lesson from the Benghazi attacks and the souring of the "Arab Spring" in Tunisia and Egypt as well. Yet somehow, this guy they call "the most brilliant US President ever" seems quite the non-learner.
