Is it too lateReader comment on item: Support the Syrian Rebels? Submitted by Andy (United Kingdom), Jun 9, 2013 at 08:31 Libya and Syria seems to have been an experiment to find out which method for dealing with dictators who wag war on their own people is best. One one hand he have the western government's method of using tactical military intervention to aid those seeking to over throw a dictator or the Stop The War Coalition, anti-war method which believe that doing anything will increase the deaths. Well the outcome clearly proves that military intervention not only saves lives but reduces the length of the conflict. But I'm sure the anti-war movement is still sitting pretty smug in their ivory towers atop of the moral high ground believing all the pro Assad propaganda saying that ever man woman and child kill in the war is a member of a western backed al-Qeeda, and that the rebels are being armed by the USA (let's ignore they are being armed with Soviet hardware). Yet not a single word against those supplying the Assad forces or against Hezbollah, and extremists Islamic terrorist organisation fighting for Assad. If we had done something sooner then the extremists would not of had an opportunity to get a foot hold in Syria. The west has made the same ultimate failings it made in Iraq and Afghanistan, in an effort to appease the anti-war movement (which was pointless as they would of opposed it no matter what) they scale down the initial military campaign when they should of used total war against the Saddam and Taliban, the WW2 equivalent would of for the allies to only engage SS division on the belief that the regular army were not their enemy.
