Time to abandon multi-culturalismReader comment on item: [The Abu Ali Case and] Balancing Liberties, Security Submitted by Octavio Johanson (Italy), Mar 3, 2005 at 08:01 The problem must be dealt with at its roots.Immigrants take advantage of Western civil liberties because they are allowed to settle in the West. Once you have made it to a Western country, then you enjoy the same civil liberties as the Americans, the Europeans and the Australians. The pro-immigration lobbies make sure that immigrants are allowed into the West. After that, civil libertarians make sure that immigrants have got the same kind of civil liberties. It is common sense: immigrants have got more civil liberties in the West than in any Muslim country. Civil libertarians are always people who don't just stand up for civil liberties. They also defend immigration and multi-culturalism. Oh, multi-culturalism, that much abused word. Liberals believe in multi-culturalism and that goes hand in hand with civil liberties- Let us be blunt: multi-culturalism does not work.
