I find it depressing that the Turkish public keeps electing the party that promises the least degree of freedom for the greatest degree of prosperity. I'd say that the Turks have sold their souls to the Devil, though the recent protests give me hope for the future.

Electing an Islamist government is like marrying a veiled witch. You don't get to see her until after the wedding, but by then it's too late.
