Shallow Muslim democraciesReader comment on item: Must Islamists Be Autocratic? Submitted by Ken C. (United States), Jul 20, 2013 at 19:19 Except for Israel, the original foundation of democracy with Mosaic laws, Muslim countries can at best only set up pseudo or shallow democracies. They don't last. and quickly revert back to their cultural preference for dictatorships. Nor are Muslims really "anti-democracy," as practicing true democracy beyond the ballot box, -with free speech, free press, independent judges, or freedom of worship- is as unnatural to Islamic cultures as are humans able to breath water. Islam "must" be autocratic, and as shown by Morsi or Hamas, will simply ride the democracy train to get where they are going, and keep Western donors happy, then hop off at the Supreme Leader Station.
