There are none so blind as the renitently naive

No kidding! You're spot on, Daniel.

Why the WH is doing a major naive trip on this is beyond my imagination…. well, no, but it is beyond the ideas I would like to have about the US leadership.

Further, having had some years of personal and business experience with people from that neck of the woods, so to speak, the entire administration approach to them is unconscionably naive and almost simpleton in character. I do not understand. It is not as though these folks are from Cleveland… they are of another culture; and handling or even thinking of them as one would think of a North American saying or doing the same things is so "America-at-the-centre-of-the-universe" that it is beyond description, mind blowing, fantastic (in the original sense of that word).

We used to get/observe Americans visiting Europe and they would act in the same manner - much to our repeated amazement and embarrassment.
