Comments on "Do I not criticize israeli policies"?Reader comment on item: Do I Not Criticize Israeli Policies? Submitted by Jim Lopey (United States), Oct 17, 2013 at 19:45 I find it interesting that David Speedie would refer to Daniel Pipes as a "lap-dog" for Israel. Generally Daniel Pipes tends to inject common sense in an otherwise complicated and never-ending Israeli/Palestinian/Arab conflict. I have been to Israel and have yet to meet an Israeli who does not seek peace. Extremists (Hamas, Hezbollah, al-Qaeda, et al) all seek and state in their charters that they seek the destruction of Israel. Extremism is what is killing the peace process, not Daniel Pipes or anyone else who seeks to expose reality. Reality refliects that as long as extremists spew their venom--the continuing hatred will continue. A culture of martyrdom and hate? For what? Peace will only be possible when more people of the region respect one another's religion and come to the understanding that all peoples seek the same things in life, once you analyze things (safety, food, lodging, children, good education, etc.). The truth is the truth is the truth--it may be painful for some but Israeli supporter bashing seems to be a popular passtime in this day and age. But it should only be done when warranted. In most cases I find that Daniel Pipes tends to "say it the way it is"--this is sorely needed because seldom does Israel get the benefit of the doubt.
