Global View changes gameReader comment on item: Saudis Bristle at Obama's Outreach to Iran Submitted by Mark Werfel (United States), Dec 3, 2013 at 09:13 Recent North Korean restart of a nuclear material production plant (following the US-China squabble over overflight rights in the Pacific, coupled with a perhaps tacit result of Chinese support for this North Korean step) would enable shipment of weapons grade material to Iran, which then would not need its own production capability. The North Koreans provided Pakistan with its nuke, and were building the Syrian plant before Israel destroyed it. John Kerry seems to me to be motivated to replace Hillary as the Democratic candidate in 2016, which is his motivation for outperforming her in the same job. Until Iran expresses a desire for peace and recognition for Israel (which they call Little Satan), and the United States (they call us Big Satan) instead of our destruction, I expect the sane view is to believe these Iranian leaders mean what they say. If we then conclude that they want to destroy us, why let them arm? Remember the history here: lackadaisical behavior for decades about Fundamentalist Islam (and Iran) led to World Trade Center attacks in two cycles, US Embassy attacks on several cycles, military deaths -- including multiple attacks by Afghani troops and militia being trained by us on us. So what exactly does the USA ever learn about reality, or will it ever? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
