My enemy and my friend revisitedReader comment on item: Saudis Bristle at Obama's Outreach to Iran Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jan 11, 2014 at 09:53 I do believe that the Iranians are the ones that invented Islam after all as per Ali Dashti 70% of Kutub al-Turath al-Islami (the great early Islamic commentaries and I include here books of Arabic grammar and Islamic history, the Ahadith literature and the biographies of Muhammad etc...) were written by Iranians the likes of al-Tabari and Ibn Saad and they really shaped Islam What is most amazing is that the people of Iran never liked the Arabs, and they still do not like the Arabs, and they even regarded the culture of the Arabs and the Arabic language to be far inferior to the culture and the language of Iran. And when Firdawsi wrote his master peace: The Shahnemah he avoided using any Arabic loan words and he made it very clear that the culture of Iran and the language of Iran are the pride of the people of Iran and this is why Iranians never stopped speaking their language and compare this with Egypt where Egyptians stopped speaking their language Egyptian/Coptic and became Arabic speakers There is also a very fundamental difference between Shia Islam and Sunni Islam: Shia Islam is the product of the great civilization of Iran as a result of which Shia clerics always had their desire to learn and to critique books and literature, the Qur'an included, something that you will never see in Sunni Islam (as an example read al-Tabari's tafseer of in hadhan la-sahiran in Surat Taha 63 and compare it with Ali Dashti's examination and admitting that this is indeed a grammatical mistake as it should have been In Hadhyne la-Sahiran now compare this with Sheikh al-Azhar who does not even include it as a grammatical mistakes because it is too embarrassing to admit that it is a mistake). One of my teachers used to call the Shia in Iran: the Catholics of Islam where learning for the sake of learning is very essential in preserving the great culture of Iran and a very profound tradition. However this does not mean that the Mullahs allow free thinking among the masses it never happened and it will never happen Shia Muslims always viewed themselves as victims of the evil Sunni Muslims and that they were and they still are being persecuted by Sunni Muslims (just check the murder of a group of Egyptian Shia in Morsi's Egypt and Morsi's comments were despicable) so the terrorist members of al-Qa3ida are not really only after us kuffar but they are also after the Shia after all the Shia remind Sunni Muslims of the disasters that you will find in the Islamic literary tradition that Omar was a sodomite and 3A'isha used to cheat on Muhammad and breast feed "the youth of Quraish" And as i said before the enemy (Iran) of my enemy (al-Qa3ida) is my friend this does not mean that I think that the Mullahs in Iran are angels but I do believe that Iran can indeed help in getting rid of the scum called al-Qa3ida in Syria and Iraq What is most amazing is that the clueless Turks do not seem to realize that Turkey will be next on the agenda of this terrorist organization Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
