Many anticipated this result. Our military are more victims than heroes -- while in service and later, abandoned by the VA. Our officials failed to identify the real enemy: Fundamentalist Islam, with their symbol of power -- the Ka'aba -- left intact. W calls this a religion of peace while smoking ruins and thousands of corpses call for vengeance? Evildoers got the message.

Corrupt politicians and business people got rich, both in the US and in Iraq/Afghanistan. Surely our military leaders know there was no apt application for military power there. The world saw our inept, toothless, paper-tiger response and lost any respect for us in this regard.

Now, China and Russia act accordingly, while we downsize our military posture.
