Dhimmi no more, thanks for an abundance of additional context. When you pull the strings of that one phrase a variety of non-islamic origins show up. Given the Koran is a book, an item of language, it displays all the characteristics of communication. In order to communicate meaning and function, it must connect to ideas, practices, words and the like that predate the text. Were it entirely genuine, it would be perfectly unintelligible.

When I say copyright notice I very much agree with your view that the phrase was added later as a label not being part of the revelation itself. These days, when the label on a product says "Made in Germany" or "Fabriqué en France", with the container port in Rotterdam in mind, probably all of it was in fact made in China or South-East Asia.
