Turkey may be preparing an armed attack on Israel

speaks of plans by the Turkish terrorist group IHH to send another blockade-running "aid flotilla" into Gaza, this time accompanied by ARMED TURKISH TROOPS. Any attempts to break the Israeli arms embargo of Gaza by running the blockade is an act of war against Israel, as was the incursion by IHH a few years ago that cost 9 Turkish lives. This planned blockade running, especially if it included Turkish military, would be a brazen attack.

Note that there is nothing imminent about this attack; so far, it's just typical Turkish boasting -- which bears following, considering Turkish PM Erdogan's recent vile verbal attacks against Israel.

Although few accept this position, I understand the "land of Magog", mentioned in Ezekiel 38-39, to be Turkey; and Gog, the leader mentioned in that passage, to be Gugu -- founder of the dynasty that ruled a major kingdom there in Ezekiel's time. This is NOT the "Gog and Magog" of the Christian book of Revelation; and Eze 38-39 is NOT about an end-times battle that accompanies the coming of a Messiah. It is just a prediction of things to come, after Israel has returned from the Diaspora and is living safely in its own land.

When Turkey does attack Israel in force (not just with an armed "aid flotilla"), I am sure that some doomsayers will have a field day. That's just the way people are, in this crazy world we live in. Israel does not need to deal with doomsayers, though, but with hard facts: the "Next Neighbor" policy it once practiced, in which it allied itself with countries like Turkey and Iran, is a thing of the past. NATO member Turkey has become a dangerous enemy of Israel. It attacked defenseless Cyprus in 1974, and has gotten away with the act. Now that US and European foreign policy is in full retreat, I think an Antisemitic Turkish dictator like Recep Tayyip Erdogan will soon be unable to restrain himself from an adventure against the Promised Land. This is a real danger, not a Messianic fantasy.
