Opinion of a cynical skepticReader comment on item: Washington Finally Gets It on Radical Islam Submitted by Darwin Barrett (United States), Apr 25, 2005 at 18:41 Almost every instance where the US has supported underdogs in their struggle against their oppressors, it has created a governing body that was worse than its predecessor. In the "War on Terror", all we have managed to do so far is further the goals of the Islamists. We were sucked in to their conflict and now provide the impetus to help them grow and unite. They are masters at deception, and will have us funding, rebuilding, and uniting their civilization until we finally wake up and realize that we have given away the very essence of our civilization. Even if our leadership can actually see the magnitude of the threat, I doubt they have what it takes to formulate and implement an effective response. Islam means "Submission" and is centered around the Qur'an. As long as militant Islam exists, its goal will be the elimination of all who have not "Submitted". Submit or die, that is the option. The goal of changing Islam into a religion that does not involve "Submission", and is not based on the Qur'an, is like changing Christianity into a religion that doesn't involve Christ, and isn't based on the new testament. I wish them luck.
