Go the Moderates!Reader comment on item: Washington Finally Gets It on Radical Islam Submitted by Sandra Goldberg (Australia), Apr 26, 2005 at 02:03 Glad to read about efforts to build on Moderate Islam.......get to the Madrassahs, etc.Been pro-active in this for a couple of years. A voice in the wilderness, and having to walk on eggshells, but it's got to work. Have to live in hope. Glad the superpower (America) or Roman Empire of today ......is actively working on this. Building on the good, giving people hope and confidence in their future is what it's all about. My question is - Is any work being done on moderacy in the heart of Palestinian territory and the surrounding Arab entities? This is imperative, as I know that the brainwashing that has been and is going on with little children - can only lead to future death and destruction on all sides. Can moderates be found within the teachings of hatred and blaming Jews for the woes of the world? Can the generation be shown that they have been taught a different history? Is it possible to turn hatred into tolerance and ability to live side by side with Israel? I have lived in the Middle East and know that only by beginning one step at a time, to instill knowledge of facts and not myths - can self esteem be obtained by each and everyone. That little children aren't taught to be a Shahid (Martyr) is what life is all about. Can this happen? I want so much to believe that evil can be beaten. Evil only flourishes when good people stand by and do nothing. I am involved in dialogue when possible, a tiny drop in the ocean, but I cannot sit back and do nothing. There are tiny droplets here in Australia, in getting together and building bridges interfaith. It augers well for the future. In the cold light of day, everyone deserves to have food on their table, and to look forward to tomorrow, and to be able to actively participate in their life plan. Thank you. A concerned person from downtown Melbourne, Australia. Sandra
