He's a Terror

Wow. To me, the definition of "TERRORIST" is rather clear: A terrorist is someone who attempts to or is successful in INSTILLING terror (fear) on a specific general population and society, WITH THE INTENT to kill and disrupt that society. (Thus the "terrorists" of 9/11 instilled fear onto the general US population resulting in significant disruptions (TSA) of the society.} The perpetrators of the atrocity were cleary "terrorsts" writ large.

Note that a child can be called a "TERROR" but not a "TERRORIST", such are the vagaries and the scope of the English language. (!)

Note also that I would call an "abortion clinic" BOMBER committed by a US citizen a "terrorist" followng my definition above. You don't necessarily have to be a "foreigner" to fall under the classification of "terrorist" although of course, since 9/11, the preponderance of "terrroristic" acts have been committed by foreigners against "westerners" or "western interests and institutions".

I should modify my last statement: from a "westerner's" perspective, most terroristic acts have been committed against westerners. But if one takes a "neutral" stance, most terroristic acts have really been committed against innocent Moslem populaions on an almost daily basis. Note the almost daily bombings in Iraq currently. Since 9/11 the number of westerners that have been killed probably number around 10,000 (an educated guess). But the number of Moslem non-westerners most likely approaches the one million mark, not counting the massive displacement of vast swaths of Iraqi/Syrian populations.

(9/11 in the end, was an "atrocity" committed against western populations and institutions by terrorists. But the event didn't fundametally change these societies - not even close. But it forever changed Moslem societies and was really the DEATH KNELL of a disintegraing Islamc civilization realizing it was losing to modernity).

Bottom line: Like "Beauty", "Terroism" is one of those terms that you really can't define in specific terms, but you sure know it when you see it or feel it.
