Dear Dr Pipes,

Thanks for explaining your interpretation of the word 'ancient'. And I am in full agreement with you that fratricidal politics is deeply intertwined in Islamic religious thought. Politics is a dirty business and it should not be mixed with religion even for noble purposes. The idea of a peaceful and prosperous Islamic caliphate is an oxymoron that will never come to be and will always lead to violence and killings. ISIS is a prime example.
