There are only Muslims, not Islamists.Reader comment on item: Two Weaknesses Could Undo the Islamist Movement Submitted by Lance (United States), Feb 16, 2016 at 23:26 According to the Quran, there are only believers, non-believers, and apostates. Apostates are those Muslims that are not adhering to Islam in it's entirety. There are no Islamists. They are Muslims that are observing all Islamic teaching and law to the letter. There can be no better practicing Muslim than the ones labeled Islamist or Islamic extremist. I would be interested in any evidence based on Islamic law or the Quran that refutes my claim as I may be missing something, and I hope I am. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: As I repeatedly point out (see here), it's not enough to recite texts; history also counts. And there is a clear difference between Muslims who belong to ISIS and those who fight it. To ignore this amounts to willful blindness. Reader comments (32) on this item
