Islamic civil war

You may have hit upon something here. What is happening in the Islamic world is a religious civil war -- largely internal, but affecting the rest of the world tangentally. It's a strange civil war to a Christian, because all the quarreling sects essentially agree on doctrine, differing only in tactics; and the aim of this INTERNAL struggle is outward expansion into the whole world.

I'm glad to hear you openly say what problems India is having, because all I seem to hear about India lately are (1) what a booming, growing economy they have, (2) how they are developing militarily, mostly to counter China, and (3) what a friend they are to Israel. Much of this is baloney, and all of it ignores the basic facts of life for the poor Indians. I learn of these through occasional stories about husbands committing suicide because of financial ruin, and leaving their impoverished wives and children in the lurch. I like hearing the truth, even if it's ugly.

My impression of the Chinese countryside, five years ago was (1) open gutters, serving as both storm and sanitary sewers, (2) litter everywhere, (3) human and animal excrement scattered willy-nilly across the countryside, (4) undrinkable water, etc. I also noted a grass-roots capitalism that was free of US-style restrictions, and some of the friendliest people in the world, who love children, along with skyscrapers where there were rice paddies ten years earlier, a thriving middle class, etc. There were long queues everywhere, but nothing to equal the searching and humiliation of airline passengers that is ubiquitous in the US. That might not be a flattering or ideal picture, but I prefer it to the BS in the mainstream media.

What continues to amaze me about the Middle East, is the fact that in spite of the continuing hell that is Syria, Obama and Putin want to pressure Israel into giving them the strategically vital Golan -- and subject the Jews and Druze there to either expulsion or daily misery and death. When I see things like that, I know the world has gone mad with hatred of the Jewish homeland. Even India and China have joined in that madness. May all countries that do these things, including Russia, France and the US, live like the Syrians and Iraqis.
