Cultural suicide and MatriarchyReader comment on item: Who Will Write France's Future? Submitted by Michael S (United States), Jul 9, 2016 at 03:50 Hi, Frederick Just to examine your theory concerning religion and birth rates, I looked these up on a map at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_and_dependent_territories_by_fertility_rate#/media/File:Countriesbyfertilityrate.svg Indeed, atheist countries like China have very low birth rates, just as Houllebecq said. "Post-Christian" places like most of Europe and parts of America also have dangerously low rates, as to very secular Sweden and Catholic Poland. France is faring only slightly better, probably because of high fertility among former Arab and African colonials living there. By far, the highest rates are among the newly Christian countries of Africa; and in Islamist-plagued hot spots in the Sahel, Iraq and Afghanistan. The Islamic and Hindu countries are actually moderate in fertility, along with the Mestizos, Argentines, South Africans and Central Asians. There does not, seem to be a correlation between "patriarchal religions" and fertility rates, seeing that nearly all the world is patriarchal. Before relocating in Eastern Europe, one might consider: 1. Life expectancy. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/75/Life_Expectancy_2005-2010_UN_WPP_2006.PNG It is high in Western Europe, low in Eastern Europe, and extremely low among men in Russia, the Ukraine and Belarus (where the culprit is apparently vodka) 2. Suicide rate among men: http://26t4l93f9dhe439yxm286lpv.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Suicide5.png 3. Drinking pattern: http://nowiknow.com/wp-content/uploads/Screen-Shot-2015-07-21-at-9.53.23-PM.png Russians, East Europeans and Scandanavians are in the "Vodka Belt", where people consume, essentially, uncut poison. Sure, the Moslems have a lower death rate from alcoholism; so do wine and beer cultures in Western Europe. Alcoholism is also deeply intertwined with depression, so: 4. Depression: https://images.washingtonpost.com/?url=http://img.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/files/2013/11/depression-rates.jpg&w=1484&op=resize&opt=1&filter=antialias Here, the East Europeans are actually more sensible than the Muslims. Vodka may kill you; but apparently a little booze keeps you from wanting to become a suicide bomber. Speaking of suicide, 5. Suicide Rate: http://gamapserver.who.int/mapLibrary/Files/Maps/Global_AS_suicide_rates_bothsexes_2012.png?ua=1 Muslims may lead depressing lives; and SOME decide to end theirs while blowing up infidels; but on the whole, they seem to prefer living in misery to killing themselves. East Europeans, on the other hand, seem all too eager to end their existence this side of the grave. In all five categories, it seems that life in Western Europe is preferable to that in the East. In fact, it may be because life is so good there, that Muslims are flocking to the place. They certainly aren't flocking to matriarchal societies, such as in Akan State in Ghana.
