Impending doom?Reader comment on item: Who Will Write France's Future? Submitted by Michael S (United States), Jul 18, 2016 at 10:51 Hi, Tovey. You said, "world peace does not truly come to pass until the 'Prince of Peace' purges the evil from the world and replaces human government with truly Divine government, the ultimate goal as spoken of by Yeshua HaMashiach, the ultimate ruler of Jerusalem, Israel, the new Heavens and Earth. All other attempts in empire building will be terminated with prejudice." I agree that true peace will not come until the man-made world order is destroyed in the last day by a supernatural agency (depicted in Daniel 2 as a great mountain smashing the statue at the base). That event seems to be the nuclear war prophesied in Zechariah 14. I agree also, that after this, Messiah (HaMashiach) will rule the world from Jerusalem for 1000 years. Whether this will involve his person, seated on an earthly throne; or whether he will rule through his people (the collection of believers, referred to as "the Body of Christ" aka "the Body of Messiah"), I cannot say. John the Revelator saw "New Jerusalem" descending into his vision from "a new heaven and a new earth, the first heaven and earth having passed away". That will happen a thousand years AFTER the events I'm concerned with. The matter of immediate concern, is that the world system is on the verge of collapse. The Bible (Ezekiel 39) notes that a Turkish invasion of Israel will precede the world war and collapse by several years. With Turkey's Erdogan in the process of a massive purge of all enemies (perhaps a parallel of Hitler's "night of the long knives"?), the stage for that event seems to be set. The ascension of "the beast" (probably "the antichrist" that Paul spoke of) should happen after, or contemporary with, the Turkish action. Could Antichrist be Donald Trump? I don't know; and frankly, I don't care. The odds are, that it will be someone after him; but it doesn't matter. There is already an antichrist spirit in the world, dedicated to attacking Christ and everything Godly. That spirit seems associated more with Hillary Clinton and the current political establishment; but God is not a partisan politician: The whole world is rushing to judgment day, on the right and on the left. One more note: You said, "The era of building empires, indeed the epoch of the many trying to develop a modern equivalent of Babylon is waning," This is not true. The great empires of recent memory: Napoleon's Empire, Soviet Russia and Hitler's Empire, arose as their countries were COLLAPSING, not at the height of their glory. The current world order, led by the United States, is collapsing. The Brexit referendum was probably the first of many dominoes to fall. On the table now is Frexit, a similar French referendum that will most likely happen after the Presidential election there next year, if not sooner. That may be preceded by Italy pulling out of the Eurozone. With the UK, France and Italy out of the Euro Zone and possibly the EU; and with Shengen collapsing because of the Migrant Crisis, what remains of the EU will be Germany and its client states in Northern and Eastern Europe. That will not be a victory for Germany and Merckel, but a defeat. The power vacuum will then ultimately be filled by the US President, whoever he or she is. Noah was convinced that the end was near, so he built the ark. While there is a pervasive undercurrent today of belief in impending doom, not many have made rational decisions about the "ark" they personally plan to build to ferry them into the Messianic Kingdom. Church membership is a leaky boat, in this respect; and belief in a "rapture" is a desperate flight of fantasy. The "flood" is coming, and we will be in the midst of it. Jesus has given us parables, telling us how to build; and I won't elaborate on them here. Shalom shalom :-)
