Nato and the new phony warReader comment on item: "The Battle against Islamism Has Not Yet Started" Submitted by James Luce (Spain), Jul 31, 2016 at 14:08 Hello Mr. Pipes, Just read your excellent comments in "The Battle of Islam Has Not Yet Started". Your point that stealth-Sharia is more threatening than jihadist terror is central to the ongoing war. Couple of thoughts: 1. There is indeed a mechanism for excluding Turkey from NATO because NATO was created by a treaty. The objecting member states can abrogate that treaty and agree to a new one that excludes Turkey. 2. I'm not sure that "the battle hasn't started". I think the situation is similar to the Phony War during the first eight months of WW II after Hitler conquered Poland. The battle lines are drawn, there have been some casualties and bombs dropped by both sides, but there is little effective action being taken at the moment. I foresee that Islam will strike a massive blow "through the Ardennes" as in 1940...except this time instead of blitzkrieg it will be atomic bombs hidden in several tramp steamers that dock in ports of our major coastal cities, probably including NYC, LA, and D.C. The opportunity is sitting there is plain sight in that there is absolutely no system in place for inspecting ships arriving in US ports until after they are in the harbor.
