Sincere inquiry about 5:33

Dear Dr Pipes: Your reader Anne speculated that violent Islamic groups like ISIS are exactly following Quran and doing what Qurans asks them to do. I do not know to what extent reader Anne's opinion is tenable but there indeed be a degree of truth in what Anne said. The case in point is Q5:33. Q 5:33 clearly tells that those who wage war against Allah and his prophet must be killed.

I think the burden is on Islamic intelligentsia to present the best possible interpretation of Q5:33 to non-Muslims and (even) Muslims. Will someone come forward?

Otherwise Anne's position can be assumed to be right.
