Shalom Tovey. L'Shannah tovah! (Happy New Year).

I spent the New Year in the doctor's office, scheduling open surgery on my aorta (Shimon had already made his journey to the life to come, six days earlier). My first impulse in my own situation has not been to consult my horoscope, nor to search the Bible for omens, but

1. To sings songs of praise in my heart to the God of Israel, thanking Him for his love toward me, and
2. To take steps to ensure that my wife is taken care of in my will.

One thing I DIDN'T do, was join the brethren at the river, blowing trumpets, throwing stones and suchlike; because I was preoccupied with these health issues. Neither do I plan, should I still be with my body on this planet at the time, plan to fast on Yom Kippur; because I am scheduled to be released from hospital around that time.

For your sake, let me now consult the ephemeris for Rosh HaShannah this year:

Sun 9° Libra, conjoined my ruling star (Neptune) in my house of health. It was be in exact conjunction yesterday. That is certainly a marker for a health event; but then, it occurs once every year.

Moon 20° Libra, at the time set for the ephemeris. Of course, the new moon happened earlier in the day; seeing that Rosh HaShannah is always marked by a new moon.

Mercury 22° Virgo, in opposition to my sun. "Opposition", in astrology, may indicate an "awareness". This is appropriate, since the aneurism was discovered by accident.

Venus 10° Scorpio, square my nadir (house of "Home"). Venus representing my wife, yes, this event certainly is causing commotion in her home life -- especially since we are in the middle of remodeling.

Mars 3° Capricorn. This is square the transient sun, portending perhaps a violent episode. Surgery is considered "violent", seeing that my good Jewish doctor will be taking a knife to me.

Jupiter 5° Libra. Of course, this is in conjunction with transient sun and, earlier in the day, opposed the transient moon. This is an ominous aspect, of course; but, as in the sun aspect, it recurs regularly -- once every twelve years.

Saturn 12° Saggitarius. This is square to the "main event", in my house of Health. Of course, this is portentious for ME; but it is also portentious concerning world events, as something of an "accent" that occurs, as I seem to recall, every few years. It is not surprizing that President Peres should have a major health event as well; but as I said, these things happen regularly, every few years.

Uranus 23° Aries, conjoined my ascendant. You can see, by now, that this portends a major event in MY life -- which is easy to see, since I have already described the event. I have no idea what the ascendant is for Israel, though. Such conjunctions with Uranus happen about once every lifetime. In my own case (and possibly Israel's as well), this transit is also trine natal Jupiter, indicating a beneficial influence. The accidental finding of the aneurism was, of course, beneficial to me; and Uranus often indicates "accidental" events.

Neptune 10° Pisces. This draws attention to my own house of Health, but does not contribute to the major constellation in Libra. Neptune will be in this position for a long time, since it moves very slowly in its orbit.

Pluto 14° Capricorn. It will be squared Jupiter early next month, but has no bearing on the constellation of interest here.

How should I sum it up?

1. Astrology certainly does say things about events -- especially when "monday morning quarterbacking", which is not surprizing.

2. A person can go lulu, looking for "signs" like this. Is my aneurism connected with the fate of Israel? of the world? How about our kitchen remodeling? Is it a significant omen? God only knows. One thing is sure, though: My surgery certainly has more bearing on Rosh HaShannah this year, than Peres's passing. Do you get the point?

3. The only aspects I would look at here for portents of world events, are:

a. the conjunction with Jupiter in Libra, and
b. the transient "T" formed by Sun, Jupiter-Mars-Moon. It focuses on early Cancer, which is benefitted by transient Venus in Scorpio.

What does this portend? Perhaps a was this year, involving Israel, with a good outcome. None of this is "Elephant in the living room" stuff; but for someone who has looked into these matters as much as you, you have to be pretty blind to miss the fact that the US is the "beast" of Revelationl.
