What should Trump do?Reader comment on item: Trump's Muslim Immigration Policy Is Evolving for the Better Submitted by Prashant (United States), Oct 8, 2016 at 11:32 Dear Dr Pipes, as a person who endorsed Mr Trump on your site, I am at a loss. His lewd comments on that now famous Washington post video has shaken my resolve and, today, I wish that someone else in the republican or democratic party --Senator Cruz for example-- had even half the courage that Mr Trump has. I hope Mr Trump's character is not reflected in those tapes. But I cannot say that for sure. It is a shame that US presidential election will not be decided by policy and will be decided based on something else. I am now bracing for Israel suffering for four more years. I am also bracing for billions of US Dollars ending up with Islamic countries neither whose priorities nor whose intentions can be trusted. And, most importantly, world's richest and oldest democracy will now waste Billions of its dollars on countries that have absolutely nothing to do with democracy who will not mind destroying lady democracy where ever they can find her. He said one right thing in his recent apology. It was that traveling in the nation during the last year has changed him. He should continue that thought. Mr Trump should look directly into the camera. He should profusely apologize to all people of the nation and to his children and insist that policy and courage is still more important than what he said ten years ago. He should try to remind the people that democratic policy of laissez faire will destroy the nation. He should say again that a nation without border is not a nation at all. And he should hope for the best. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
