Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware) and scholarship!Reader comment on item: The Most Embarrassingly Wrong Book Ever on the Middle East? Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Aug 9, 2017 at 12:06 Dr Pipes I read his book The New Lion of Damascus. I dismissed it as either cheap propaganda in support of Assad for what ever reason or he really had no clue about Syria and the Assad's family And BTW we have not seen the end of the Assad's dynasty He still has support among the many religious as well as ethnic minorities in Syria and many are now saying: See? Life is good in areas of Syria controlled by Assad Or we have not seen the end of Assad yet Compare it with McCain's shameful visit to Syria where he was also praising and supporting terrorist members of al-Qaeda and praising their humanity The truth is there are no angels in Syria and the winner sooner or later will be another dictator and the lesson to be learned that the dictator you know is better than a new dictator we do not know
