Given that the West has killed at least 100K in Syria, Assad's forces cannot have killed 90%

Indeed, I think the total number of dead in the West's bombings, according to official American estimates, must have exceeded 100K long ago. I seem to recall 50K or 70K over a year ago.
Now add to that those killed by Russia and then add those killed by Sunni Jihadists (surely tens of thousands of Syrian soldiers and thousands of rival jihadists) and obviously those killed by Assad's forces cannot be 90% or anything remotely similiar.
A side note: back when the book was written, Assad was noted only for hating Israel with a passion even Western media finds difficult to match, so naturally they were very taken with him.
