Hi Mike

You might be interested in reading about the fate of Nubia (and the Sudan) where it took almost 1000 years for the people of Nubia and Sudan to convert to Islam and become "Arabs"

The assault of Islam and the Arabs on Nubia started immediately following the Arab invasion of Egypt in 642AD and we find the first extant monument of Islam dated 651AD and it is the tombstone of an Arab his name is Abd al-Rahman ibn Khayr and it is located in Syene (today's Aswan) So what was Abd al-Rahman doing in Aswan in 651AD? He was hunting for Nubian slaves!

And the gradual assault of the Arabs and Islam on Nubia begun and it took almost 1000 years for the complete conversion of a great and very old culture to Islam and an appalling end to the genuine Nubian culture

Oh and along the way even the revered Salah al-Deen al-Ayubi and his son helped in the jihad against the people of Nubia

We all have to realize that as an ex-Muslim told me :"You might not be interested in Islam but Islam is interested in you"
