There is a strategy for NATO to defeat islamismReader comment on item: Saving NATO from Turkey Submitted by piet-hein (Netherlands), Oct 17, 2017 at 07:31 Mr. Pipes, I hope to send you soon a proposal for a strategy for none other than NATO to confront jihad and islamism along the lines that Claes and Aznar asked for. I will offer you a short list of reasons why NATO is by far the most suitable candidate for this job. I will also propose exactly what mandate NATO member states should give to NATO. It will be in conformity with all the western values that NATO was founded to defend, and strenghtening them on the way, first and foremost the freedom of religion. It implies to treat islam and jihad radically different, although one is an integral part of the other. This implies: not touching islam at all, and at the same time aggressively attacking jihad and jihadism AS SUCH. These need to be named and confronted head-on. This combination of two radically different approaches can, in my view, do the job within two generations.
