We cannot depend on the democratic politicians to do the right thingReader comment on item: Islamic London: "Run, Hide, Tell" Submitted by Prashant, Feb 7, 2018 at 01:03 Dear Dr Pipes, your reader Dave correctly stated that while fully Islamic parties may not exist any time soon in Europe, key positions in the mainstream parties will be occupied by candidates that are Islamist-sympathizers. And this is what we need to do. If Islam does not engage in debate we will need to start debates about Islam at every forum that we can find. Every Islamic principle that appears to be outlandish will have to be questioned and challenged. Governments will not do it but people will have to do it. We will have to ask why when to people fall in love, it is mandatory why non-Muslim should convert to Islam. We will have to ask why it is OK for Muslim nations to be Islamic theocracies while every one else is required to be democratic. We will need to challenge the notion that a Muslim woman can become the fourth wife of a man and can still feel equal and happy. These are just some examples. We need to debate about Islam. Muslims will not do it. Democratic governments will also not do it. But people must do it. So we don't fall into the Mecca-trap and Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
