"Cosmopolitan" Mecca and Medina? Really? Then how come non Muslim literary sources (Greek, Hebrew, Syriac, Coptic, Pahlavi, Armenian) are totally silent about Mecca and Medina prior to Islam? And if Medina was really a cosmopolitan city then why did Mu'awiyya establish his capital not in Medina or in Mecca but in Damascus? Was he a bad Arab/Muslim?

But I will give you a chance could you provide us with any extant literary sources, inscriptions, papyri, ostraca or monuments that would support your ridiculous claim that Medina was a cosmopolitan city prior to islam? Hint: There is no evidence!
