On passing of your father

Dear Daniel,

I want to send you my condolences on passing of your father. He was a very consequential man. I made his "Russia Under the Bolshevik Regime" a mandatory reading for all my children. His scholarly knowledge, writer's talent, passion, and moral clarity are an example of a historian who made sure that the lessons of the past are not forgotten and are effectively put to the service of his people and his country.

May Hashem comfort you among mourners of Zion in Yerushalayim.
