Vote as I say, not as I doReader comment on item: Israeli Arabs Say No to Palestine Submitted by Jeff (United States), Feb 6, 2020 at 21:15 Hi Anon, Somehow, I can easily picture Israeli Arabs voting one way but thinking another way. Put differently, I proudly vote for the loudmouth who yells and whines and always confirms I'm a downtrodden victim, while pretty sure the agenda of the guy I vote for will never actually come to pass (heaven forbid). Reminds me of a conversation V.S. Naipul relates in Among the Believers, with a long-time resident of Iran, an Indian Shia, in Tehran in 1979, shortly after the revolution. He denounces the shah, describing how awful life was under his rule. He then describes how wonderful everything is now, since the revolution, under "the rule of Ali." All this he prepares his belongings and himself to get a flight the heck out of there. As V.S. Naipul notes, "He was leaving Iran, after his twenty good years under the bad shah, and going back to Bombay." Maybe most Israeli Arabs want more good years under the bad Israelis.
