Extra: "Turkey's Erdogan says he will visit Saudi Arabia in February"Reader comment on item: The Religious Roots of Turkey's Currency Crisis Submitted by Robert (United States), Jan 3, 2022 at 16:00 Dear Dr. Daniel Pipes, The Quote in my title is from an Article online in the news section of Google. The Article is not important; what is important is the announcement of the trip next month to Saudi Arabia. I will assume now two (2) thing: (1) that Erdogan is a Smart Islamist, and (2) that Islamic Banking as evolved substantial to eliminate Interest by replacing it with Profit which conforms to Sharia Law, especially among the wealthy Gulf States, particularly Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain. From these assumptions I assume that next month (in February) Erdogan will plead his case in Saudi Arabia that he needs their Islamic Banks to bail Turkey (him) out because he's elimination the secular Interest banking system of Turkey. Whether he'll succeed or not is another story. But it would be a brilliant move on his part, don't you agree? He will implicitly blame Ataturk for permitting Turkey to participate in the Profit-Based Banks of the Usurious West. It will be an act not unlike his restoration of the Hagia Sophia Cathedral Museum back into the Moslem Mosque it had become after its conquest in 1453 by (Ottoman) Fatih Sultan Mehmed. My hypothesis is obviously consistent with President Erdogan Neo-Ottoman ambitions and Ego.

It's more him saying, "Enough about Khashoggi, let's move on. Oh, and a few bucks would be helpful." Reader comments (27) on this item
