Please respect the distinction between this 'ism' and IslamReader comment on item: The Need for a Focus on Western Islamism Submitted by Anne Julienne (Australia), Feb 1, 2022 at 19:05 What do you mean by "broaden your struggle" and would you yourself "include that halal food seller in your [own] list of threats"? What are you asking Pipes/FWI to do? Focus not only on political Islam but also on ordinary Muslims? And are these hijab-wearing and halal-food-selling Muslims to be attacked in some way? Criticised at least? Mocked at least? Forced to cease their Islam-inspired behaviours at least? I can't deny that there are indeed many "moderate" Muslim apologists who insist that their religion is a religion of peace. Yes, they are pathetic and should be duly pulled up. But what about all the others? What about the ones who *do* criticise their co-religionists for interpreting Islam in those dangerous "ism" ways? My two favourites are Khaled Abu Toameh and Salim Mansur, both of them Distinguished Senior Fellows at the Gatestone Institute. They are both fierce defenders of Israel, fierce warriors fighting Islamism, and fierce defenders of free speech. When it comes to telling the truth, honestly and squarely, you'd be hard put to find any better authors (Daniel Pipes himself included). Please don't put all Muslims in the same bag. Daniel has a good way of sorting this out a bit and until someone comes up with something better, his way of making the distinction is by far the best we have. Please respect that.
