Cautionary Tale of Misunderstanding Religious Fervor

Reader comment on item: The Need for a Focus on Western Islamism

Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Feb 2, 2022 at 14:39

In this burgeoning age of defending against religious animus we find the battle of the ages (indeed, going back to the Middle Ages and beyond) inspired and fired by humanities under constant assault by the inhumanities conducted by religiously inspired precepts claiming superiority of deified adaptations of ancient condemnations that have taken uncounted tolling of lives, there is appearing a certain sense of a loss of standing of the morality necessary to stop the evil; but why? As is contended in many forums and with sufficient incontrovertible evidence in the highest places of institutional educational processes, Islam has been and remains an ever increasing force to be reckoned with; and even in the attempts to focus on a moderated form of its practice, its original introduction and implementation does not diminish and it appears in certain respects, to be formidable even as its source of power is indeterminable for the lack of modern instruction as to that source.
Even in observation of its own apostasy, the mystery that is Islam cannot be searched out for the lack of recognizing its mission; formation of the ummah.
In the formation of this latest post as a contest to the spread of Islamism in the west, Dr. Pipes is spearheading a necessary challenge to the institutionalizing of a form of Islam that does not comport to the originalist intentions of Islam as being the replacement theology to the Judeo-Christian mission of spreading the Gospel of the Jewish Savior, a centuries old endeavor that still has as its primary mission, the message of believing that an itinerant Jewish carpenter from Nazareth whose claim to be the Jewish Messiah after being put to death on a Roman cross by the religious leadership of Jerusalem, is still causing an unsettling challenge to the world. Its culmination in the world is still at the center of the battle for the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
What this observer sees here is that the contentions which have been argued for decades in the Dr.'s earlier career of this forum is now taking on a more expansive role as the deep seated forms of Islam has splintered yet again and the spread of a more mild form of Islam is now seen unfolding in a world that cannot abide by religious indoctrination anymore; and the seeking of a secularistic means of assuaging religious fervor is being sought after for the cause of abandoning religion that no longer serves to provide hope for peace in this world. So the battle continues for the mind and soul, if not the casualties of failed ambitions of empire and wrecked societies like Afghanistan and Syria, where Islam still lays waste and the Ukraine is opening the door to opposing the west's intervention in the Middle East.
