The Abraham Accords are a step in the right direction

The history of the development of the Islamic religion involves the unfortunate transformation of its seventh century's progenitors' inclusiveness into religious supremacism and intolerance in later centuries. While the original approach led to great success by building effective coalitions, the later intolerance sowed the seeds of decline by gradually tearing down that earlier cohesiveness and broad appeal. Today, we see self-destructive internecine conflicts. Religious intolerance is on grotesque display in extremist Islamist violence and in the absurd incitement over the Temple Mount and other shared religious sites.
The Abraham Accords, by melding an alliance between monotheistic forces for the purpose of opposing radicals such as Iran, hark back to the era of seventh century inclusiveness when Muhammad's Believers (ie monotheists) fought the Byzantines. They are thus a huge step backwards in the right direction, while the Palestinian rejection of Israel is symptomatic of later, dead-end tendencies. The significance of the Accords should not be underestimated.
