The complexities of the Ukrainian incursion take on new meanings as the once defensible attitudes of NATO propections are in question while the very reason for NATO's existence is out on an expansionist's bid to redefine the world that the Russian Leader is no longer (if ever there was any time for) trusting.
Erdoğan, much in the same frame of thinking inserted himself in Turkish politics by pretention and has spent his entire leadership remolding Turkiye into the Caliphate platform he desires to rule his part of that neighborhood, with a little of an expansionst's desires to increase those influences to recapture the prestige once held by the Ottomans. It is ambitious in the least and presumptuous in the long range scheme of things.
That he shares the spotlight of such ambitions of power may seem coincidental; but look closer; there is still the ancent antipathies from a time past in which, eventually, they will have to face off against each other. Thus the paradox that is NATO membership given to Turkiye when not a Islamist power base, now an oxymoron since the affinities of both Turkiye and Russia are hostile to the true security of NATO: a situation that will be made manifest in a very short period of time; and NATO will be unprepared due to its own internal ambivalance. Wherever NATO is weakest, watch for the challenge.
