Bart WillruthReader comment on item: The Bible's Role in American Support for Israel Submitted by sara (United States), Sep 13, 2006 at 06:14 Oh, brother...how many times do we have to hear this supposedly well-thought out description of those of us who adhere to faith in God? We are called delusional, amorphous, unreliable, and now irrational, by Mr. Smart Bart. I opened the dictionary definition of faith: from Latin fides; akin to Latin fidere to trust I opened the dictionary definition of irrational: from Latin irrationalis, from in- + rationalis rational WHAT AN INSULT you make of believers. Faith is not only something belonging to religion.it is exercised every day when we get into a vehicle; we believe, or execute faith that others are going to stop for their red lights. We step into an elevator with the faith it will open again. Fath is not based on proof...it extends itself based on what is rational, and what experience has been ahd before. you deny that believers have HAD any experience at all of God.......something you will only guess at, I suppose. I have had many undeniable experiences of God, and miracles occur every single day, even for you. But do you acknowledge them? The pseudo-intellectuals have such disdain for those who HAVE faith in God......they believe it is this FAITH which has led to forced convdersions, mass killings, etc. It is NOT the people of FAITH who did such things, for the people of FAITH TRUST God to work in people's consciences....and bring them to a revelation of Who He IS. God did that mamny times with the Jews and He has not changed...He will show Himself strong on their behalf again, and it is THIS which Christians are believing in....THAT GOD IS WELL CAPABLE OF DIRECTING HISTORY AS HE DECIDES....not that Christians can bring anyone to any faith whatsoever. It is only God Who can reveal Himself...so the believing Christian has learned from a bloody history, just as we all have learned.....it is God's choice to give each of us an individual part in deciding whether or not we are ssaved, and it is His to decide who is saved and who is doomed to hell. None of us knows till it happens. However, I am not sure I have actually heard that Muslims have any will to relflect upon their own mistakes. I do not recall hearing many Jewish admissions of their own shortcomings. EVERYONE LOVES TO BLAME THE HONEST CHRISTIANS because it is we who are willing to reflect, scrutinize, analyze and amend our ways, apologizing and seeking to do better next time...and it is this which has built modern civilization: a cooperation between Christian nations (that God has blessed,) and the Jewish nation, whether that was in exile or not. This is not some fleeting changeable LOYALTY.....I will take TRUST of God over proof any day.......because I receive the ebenfit from my trust.......I receive the peace that it affords, and the grace that God affords for my failings...He makes up for what I lack in loyalty anf faith, and I believe Christians finally are getting it right in supporting Israel. Just shut up and have a little of that faith yourself........you must have NO FRIENDS. allegiance to duty or a person : LOYALTY b (1) : fidelity to one's promises (2) : sincerity of intentions Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
