Citizens of the same planet, like it or notReader comment on item: [The American Muslim Council:] 'Mainstream' Muslims? Submitted by Education is a necessity (United States), Oct 1, 2006 at 13:31 This is dedicated to all the Google University graduates… ....some of you may very well need to google some of this, because I'm sure you never even knew some of these countries existed, even though you share the same planet, not to mention events of American and World history to date. Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Mali, Niger, Oman, Qatar, Senegal, Somalia, Turkey, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Zanzibar, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Morocco, Malaysia, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Indonesia, Egypt, Cote D'Ivoire, Chad, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, and Albania are all Muslim countries. Are all these people mean, cold-hearted terrorists? Are all these countries at war? Are there not Muslims in every country in the world? Have any of you met a few, or even ONE Muslim person and asked them non-biased questions about there religion and why they follow it? Did you know that you count with Arabic numerals? You think you know the life of Jesus, but have you ever, for educational purposes, studied the life of Mohammed before speaking of his character? Have you ever read an entire Qur'an instead of focusing on certain parts? Are you a scholar of religions to know exactly what scriptural phrases literally mean? From 1492-1800's millions Native Americans were slaughtered, men, women, AND children, in the worst and most inhumane of ways by the devout Christians who came to this nation to become independent of the English Church, and to become land owners…even if the land was already owned by native Americans and what came to be present-day Mexicans. In this country, as well as many others around the globe, blacks experienced the life of slavery, undergoing cruel and unimaginable means of torment and torture from the 1600's until the introduction of the 13th Amendment into the United States Constitution in 1865. Thereafter, "African Americans" experienced the means and extremes of racism, segregation, and continued violence and discrimination towards them. Have you ever seen pictures of beaten slaves? Google that sometime. Priests molesting young boys, school shootings, gang violence, era of KKK routed violence, the Holocaust, existence of African and Indian cultures who circumcise girls, bury female babies alive in favor of males, historically Indian and Chinese cultures idolize males and dread the birth of a daughter, Pakistan had a female Prime Minister (Benizar Bhuto), the U.S. has never allowed a women to hold such power except on a TV show, women had to fight for their rights here to be able to have a voice in politics, 8 million people are starving to death in Ethiopia… How would you be, as a person, if you had NO google searches, no computers, no magazines, no newspapers, no talk shows, no freedom of speech, no insight but what your superiors and government tell you? The Islamic extremists criticize the Western world without having any knowledge of what it really is, and what it really stands for, but by vague images and hateful messages….. just as you are doing to the Muslims of the world, on the basis of bias and limited information. Would Jesus be proud of you for how you are speaking? Think about that. Any true Muslim knows, Allah (an Arabic word for God), nor Mohammed, would be proud of this unacceptable and ridiculous behavior of terrorists. Terrorists represent Muslims as much as the KKK represent all Christians. Their motives are political, NOT religious… they are using the religion as a shield to their misdeeds, as a hopeful justification only, and in turn are mutilating Islam to the eyes of the world. In a similar way, you are hiding behind your religion, with the notion that Christ died for your sins, so now you can sit and spew venom at anyone unlike you, because you already got your ticket to paradise? And you laugh at the muslims for speaking of gaining virgin brides in heaven? Violence exists globally, in every nation and religion, to some degree, whether past or present. History is being written over and over in this continuing world for future generations to read about. Nothing justifies murder, but history has proven that hatred and discrimination does not solve, but intensifies a bad situation. Get an education.
