Don't forget fanatical secularismReader comment on item: [Bureaucratic Leftism and] Globalthink's Perils Submitted by Chana (United States), Mar 13, 2003 at 20:54 Another major characteristic of this new leftist ideology is the intense antipathy to anything viewed as "religious" (although some might argue that the passionate beliefs of this group constitute a form of cult-like religion)... unless the particular religion in question also happens to be perceived as attached to one of the other "victim" groups (ie, nonwhites or immigrants).Hence, the constant leftist denigration and attacks on Christianity and Judaism, both of which are seen as "white" religions, although Jews come in literally every color and the overwhelming majority of today's Christians can be found in nonwhite societies primarily in the southern hemisphere (all of South America and about two thirds of Africa, for example). They also are not seen as "immigrant" religions although Jews clearly are immigrants to everywhere they live outside Israel (in particular, the overwhelming majority of Jews in America descend from families that fled either the Russian pogroms at the turn of the century or Hitler in the '30s, clearly immigrants of only a few generations). In contrast, Islam is viewed as a nonwhite religion (although Bosnian Muslims are every bit as "white" as Serbian Christians or neighboring Czech Jews), and also as an "immigrant" religion, since those populations have expanded rapidly in Europe and America only very recently (although America for example also has a sizeable homegrown population of black Muslim converts). Nevertheless, because Islam is perceived in the eyes of the left as nonwhite and immigrant, it therefore requires their determined protection, regardless of Marx's canard of "religion is the opiate of the masses", and despite the obvious hostility and violence that Muslims continue to express towards all westerners including the left, whereas Judaism and Christianity are scorned and derided and generally must be shunned from public life. incidentally, this analysis also explains why these same leftists insist on supporting the "oppressed" Palestinian Muslim terrorists over the "colonizing" Israeli Jews wh are trying to defend themselves from Arab genocidal ambitions.
