THE OPRESSION OF WOMEN

After reading many of the comments posted in this blog and many others I have come to the conclusion that the definition of oppression has been seriously misconstrued. I cannot see how a woman who preserves her modesty can be oppressed. When we take all of the Sexually transmitted diseases today and all of the teenage mothers below the poverty line and all of the women who are on anti-depressants because of the mistreatment they have suffered at the hands of men I do not understand how anyone can think that Muslim women are oppressed. Islam Provided Muslim women with rights long before the United States came into existence.

In Europe during 600 A.D in the time of Muhammad which country allowed women to inherit or to vote? Just because Muslim women do not choose to preserve themselves and their dignity until they are married does not mean that we are oppressed, in fact I guarantee you that we are much happier! We live in a male dominated society and because some women give into the desires and standards that men set for them does not mean they have the right to put down those that refuse to conform to an unjust treatment of women. LET US ALL BE JUST WHEN WE TALK ABOUT ISLAM! THE BENEFITS FAR OUTWEIGHT ALL THE ... REMARKS!
