Their Own FaultReader comment on item: Muslims "Lagging Behind" Submitted by linda (United States), Dec 25, 2006 at 20:53 The lagging is their own fault. Watched the shuttle land the other day. Why don't Muslims concentrate on something other than Allah? There's a whole amazing universe (many universes in fact) to explore -- if you're a believer, creations of God. One needn't be an atheist in any way whatsoever to indulge in the exploration and wonder of it all. Thinking about space exploration, I wonder about those in the world who are always angry and blaming others. That energy is completely wasted. American Muslims often speak in a smug manner about education, a sort of third world elite mentality -- boasting of ivy league educations and claiming Muslims are more educated than what they term as ordinary Americans. They miss the fact that Thomas Edison's hours weren't wasted in universities. Benjamin Franklin wasn't a poser. Albert Einstein wasn't enamored with blowhard academics. Everybody knows that Einstein said that imagination is more important than knowledge. Every trip to space still gives a lump to my throat. Until Muslims understand that glorious thing that causes the lump, they'll be doomed to a downward spiral, no matter how much they kick and scream -- and spend all of their energy on something God surely doesn't need from us -- constant, nauseating worship, worship, worship, worship, blah, blah, blah. How about enjoying His creations rather than living with blinders on? By the way, it's also the road to joy.
