The Jewish Nation - Blessings, Chastisement, Blessings Again- Because They Were Chosen of Almighty God in His LoveReader comment on item: Israel's Predicament at 60: World's worst neighbourhood Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), May 12, 2008 at 12:07 In regards to the Jewish people and Nation and their plight of the moment, we shall highlight the why question here with just some of the pronouncements on the children of Israel: Deuteronomy 31:16) And the LORD said to Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, and this people will rise up, and commit idolatry with the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go [to be] among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. 17) Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them, so that they will say in that day, Have not these evils come upon us, because our God [is] not among us? 18) And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned to other gods. 19) Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it to the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. 20) For when I shall have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxed fat; then will they turn to other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant. 21) And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles have befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness: for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they form, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I swore. Deuteronomy 32:21) They have moved me to jealousy with [that which is] not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with [those who are] not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. 22) For a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23) I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them. 24) [They shall be] burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. Now yes, just like we see the Adversary given access and permission to vex and deliver Job to a fate desiring death, how much more would we read in the Hebrew Holy Scriptures that those whom He loves, He chastises, sometimes at the hands of those who hate us, just as the Adversary hates the LORD. But lest we lose the contrast of how much the LORD loves His Children of Israel and the sons and daughters of spiritual adoption, we read a sampling of the joy waiting for His children: Deuteronomy 33:29) Happy [art] thou, O Israel: who [is] like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who [is] the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places. This can be taken further in the light of the Brit Hadassah, where we read of the admonitions and warnings of Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ in the Gospels. The disciples were told of the future regarding the Temple, which was destroyed by the Romans to start the period of time sometimes referred to as the times of the Gentiles. That has not closed yet, though we see where this could be changed shortly. Let us see what happens after the President of the United States visits Israel this week, while Hizbollah continues to express their hostilities in the north with the UN looking on impotently, Hamas carrying on to the south with Egypt on the fence, all the while Russia with its liaisons looking on with expectations. To continue with the Brit Hadassah, Jesus Christ expresses His discerning commentary of those times which are corollary with these times: (Matthew 23:39) "For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord." He is speaking to the Children of Israel at the time. When the nation of Israel does come to that point then we will see the fulfillment of Zechariah 12:10 ": And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn." Now, it has been noted before that the Quran counters everything of the Hebrew Holy Scriptures in unbelief of them, and we have read from other readers who follow the Islamic Prophet that they understand a different version of history. They are looking for a different outcome, even after sixty years of evidence to the contrary. So, in the context of the times we see the Jewish nation in now, let us read from that most noted Jewish person, Shaul (Paul) of Tarsis, writing again to the believers in Thessalonica (2Thes 2:1): Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering to him. 2) That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3) Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day shall not come], except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4) Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5) Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6) And now ye know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time. 7) For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now restrains [will] restrain, until he be taken out of the way. 8) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the spirit of his mouth, and will destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9) [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan, with all power, and signs, and lying wonders, 10) And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11) And for this cause God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12) That they all may be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13) But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth: 14) To which he called you by our Gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
