Sharon means what he saysReader comment on item: Reading Sharon's Mind Submitted by Atle Vere (United States), Jan 1, 2004 at 23:00 Sharon can and will unilaterally withdraw. When the Israelis elected Sharon prime minister, it occurred to me Sharon would handle the West Bank in the exact same way that he handled southern Lebanon: complete and panicky withdrawal. At the time, it seemed impossible Israel could renounce its cultural claim to ancient Israel – Judah (!) and Samaria – but my concerns seem to be proving true.Sharon uses violence, but only reactively. He never uses violence to accomplish some particular goal. Nothing gets done, there is only anger, and there is nothing to point to show why the use of force is necessary. In America, Bush also uses violence in Iraq, but later Bush will point why. Iraq will be a democracy, the Iraqi people will have better lives, and the Mideast will truly be more peaceful, more tolerant, and more prosperous. The violence has a plan.
