Sloan Coffin's HistoryReader comment on item: Democrats Unlearn 9/11 Submitted by Max Friedman (United States), Jan 8, 2004 at 02:11 The Rev. William Sloan Coffin never met an anti-American he didn't love. His whole history in the anti-Vietnam movement was one of supporting Hanoi. The fact that he hired Cora Rubin Weiss to run the Riverside Church's Disarmament Program was proof enough that he loved the far-left. Weiss, the daughter of CPUSA member Samuel Rubin, is the wife of far-left lawyer Peter Weiss, and both are key figures in the Marxist-dominated Institute for Policy Studies (which papa Rubin funded for a long time). The man has no credibility and should be given none. He never protested the torture and slaughter of millions of Hanoi and Pol Pot's victims in South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, nor of Castro's execution of thousands of decent Cubans who only wanted democracy. And he never protested in any serious manner Soviet violations of arms treaties or anything else they did. It was always the US he aimed at undermining. Let's send this leftist garbage to the trash dump of the religious left where he will have lots of company - Berrigans, Gumbleton, J.Jackson, and the CPUSA boys, Morford, Melish, White, Bennett, etc. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
