The policy of turning the other cheekReader comment on item: Democrats Unlearn 9/11 Submitted by T.A (Egypt), Jan 8, 2004 at 06:44 With my full respect to the democrats, whom you quoted, it seems to me that the Sept 11th tragedy couldn't shock them as deep as it did to the whole American Nation and Non- Americans as well. When terrorists attacked the WTC and the Pentagon they were declaring war on America and every value and virtue this great nation stands for. The so-called Jihadists or militant Moslems are not familiar with the policy of tolerance. Should any terrorist have the chance to kill any American " Infidel" he will surely do without any hesitation, because he believes he is doing the right thing. The policy of turning the other cheek, which America has been practicing for so long,( and Europe is still encouraging it) won't work anymore. It will only encourage other attacks. I think that President Bush made the right decision when he declared war on terrorism and not on a particular nation or religion. Putting the terrorists in front of a court will only mean to bring them to justice, which they do not practice or maybe even know. The " war " on terrorism is just and fair. Should any nation face the attacks America faced I think it will just take the same action and attitude. America has all the right now to defend the American soil.
