Reader comment on item: When Osama bin Laden Becomes PC

Submitted by Mike Ramirez (United States), Jan 25, 2004 at 22:31

In regard to the punishment received by prison guard, Colin Rose, for the comments he made about Osama bin Laden, the same justice system should take note that Rose was merely identifying a sworn enemy of this country - even if his comments were made in jest. Perhaps our Justice System needs a reminder of comments by OBL that were NOT made in jest.

Quotes of Osama bin Laden:

"The US knows that I have attacked it, by the grace of God, for more than ten years now...

"God knows that we have been pleased by the killing of American soldiers [in Somalia in 1993].

"This was achieved by the grace of God and the efforts of the mujahideen... Hostility
towards America is a religious duty and we hope to be rewarded for it by God.

"I am confident that Muslims will be able to end the legend of the so-called superpower that is America."

If political correctness has gone as far as to place America's security at risk for fear of offending a sworn enemy, we are in deep trouble.
