A critical survey of the historical development of Islam is necessary before writing about it.Reader comment on item: America's Desultory Religious Reporting Submitted by Isaac Haskiya (Denmark), Mar 29, 2009 at 03:16 Furthermore one might need to live for a year - at least- in a Muslim country and experience Islam at close range from within. Those who write on Islam in the US now willingly choose to ignore what Islam was since 632, thinking that it is not relevant. They are wrong probably because they do not want to rock the boat or wake up the bear that is sleeping. Appeasment is the easiest way out of a threatening conflict together with the ostrich-syndrome (see nothing so nothing is happening) . The mainstream media is in the middle of a rosy dream and does not want to wake up; life is so much easier when everybody agrees.
