religion or "religion"?

Sometimes I think this treatment by the MSM is because we tend to categorize "religion" as compassionate, loving, altruistic, interested in personal perfection and world peace, avoiding violence, etc. In spite of serious differences, this categorization works to a great extent with most Christian denominations, Mormonism, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc., etc. But not with Islam. Our categories get in the way of our observations.
