Israel's independence

It's obvious that the world sees Israel as under the thumb of the U.S., regardless of how American and Israeli leaders parse their sentences. When reporters ask whether Israel has been given a "green light" to attack Iran, or reports that we have told them not to attack Iran, it assumes that we are Israel's traffic cop. When Americans call for "tough love" toward Israel, they imply that Israel is a wayward child.
